The Jive Kings celebrated the anniversary of their first
rehearsal on February 6, 2000 in Sydney NS at the East Coast Music Awards. To top off an amazing year they walked away with the ECMA for Jazz Artists of the Year for their debut album "Spoon for a Knife". At a chance meeting that same weekend, CBC radio producer Adrian Hoffman suggested that they perform at the Indian River Festival. He also wondered how they felt about performing with soprano Measha Brüggergosman who had just brought the house down on the ECMA Award Show. Needless to say... the Jive Kings liked this idea.

The beautiful St. Mary's Church in Indian River PEI was the setting for the Jive Kings/Measha Brüggergosman collaboration, a concert that certainly exceeded the performers expectations and apparently the audience's as well - based on the multiple standing ovations. It was evident to both Measha and the band that this was a partnership worth pursuing. With the Jive Kings going into the studio the next week to record this album, they seized the opportunity and invited Measha to record the tunes from their concert. She accepted and the product in your hand is the result. Measha, 23, has performed with the New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Kingston and Toronto Symphonies and has given recitals in Canada, United States, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, and England. Born in Fredericton, Measha received her Bachelor of Music in Voice from the University of Toronto, and was the only Canadian representative at the Pacific Music Festival in Japan. She is currently sponsored by the Canada Council of the Arts to pursue graduate studies in Germany.
