Late Night at The Mack
01 Aug 2002
"Late Night" is one of those things that, on paper, sounds "same old, same old".
A variety show where there is a house band, and a number of different singers get up one after another and sing songs.
It sounds like Karaoke with a live band. It could have been a flop.
But through the determination of Heidi Ford and the love of the musicians and singers of this event it has turned out to be THE sell out, Go-to event of the summer with line-ups halfway around the block an hour before show-time. This is a huge factor in the success of this event. It's Fresh. It's Raw. It's almost unrehearsed and it still comes off sounding great and exciting. The audience gets into it and enjoys music from 20's swing, to 50's rock, to 90's grunge, to today's Pop, and everything in between. Also, there is no cover charge. It is a free will offering. If the audience likes what they hear, they contribute. It's a win-win event!
