Canada Rocks
21 Jun 2005
In 2005 and 2006 I was asked back to again be the bassist for the Charlottetown Festival Orchestra - for both Anne of Green Gables and the Hits Musical Revue "Canada Rocks" - basically a history of Canadian Music. ....MAN the tunes are fun...us Canadians pumped out some amazing music...
and it sure as hell rocks! Everything from Paul Anka to The Guess Who, to Bryan Adams, to Joni Mitchell, to BTO and everywhere in between. I'm lucky enough to be in the "rock band" onstage and get to play all 70 or more tunes on Electric Bass. It's a great band consisting of Chris Corrigan on Guitar, Alan Dowling on Drums, Dave Shephard on Percussion, Don Fraser on Keys and myself on the Fender preeeecision bass.
From the Confederation Centre Website: "Classic rock, hip-hop and everything in between come together in the brand new musical odyssey, CANADA ROCKS! Ride the Festival train with Canadian blues-rock icon Matt Minglewood, former Guess Who vocalist Terry Hatty and The Charlottetown Festival cast as they steam across Canada performing music by Canadian stars. Hear the hits of Steppenwolf, The Guess Who, BTO, Avril Lavigne, Bryan Adams, Anne Murray, Paul Anka and The Barenaked Ladies! This Mainstage production celebrates the contributions Canadians have made to popular music from the 1950s to the present. "
